Acupuncture & Moxa
TCM looks at the human body as a miniature representation of the universe we reside in. There is a network of meridians in our body, linking the internal viscera to the surface. In many ways, meridians are just like the river system on earth, filled with an unobstructed flow of Qi, the essential vital energy. Ailments often occur when the meridians in our bodies are blocked or damaged.
Acupuncture is a safe way to correct ailments via stimulating the corresponding acupoints, improving the circulation and flow of our meridians energy.
Moxibustion, or moxa, is an ancient heat therapy using dried mugwort, which warms the channels and further prepares individual’s body before an acupuncture session.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping is often combined with acupuncture to help with sports injuries and pain managements. Physiologically, cupping is thought to draw blood to the affected area, reducing soreness and thereby, speeding healing of overworked muscles.
Cupping has become one of the most popular recovery modality embraced by athletes worldwide as we observe the eye-catching purple dots that have been so visible on the Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps and Hollywood celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Herbal Medicine
Traditionally, herbal remedy is prescribed when the ailment could not be corrected along via acupuncture nor moxibustion. Each herbal formula would be design specifically according to individual’s body constitution.
Conventionally, formula is prepared in the form of decoction (herbal soup) from raw herbal ingredients. Modern practitioner also has the options of using concentrated granule extracts, which could be compounded into tablets or capsules for convenience.
